Stiefel Biotin Powder

Stiefel Biotin Powder can be given to horses with a biotin deficiency and can help to improve the quality of the horse's hooves and horn thanks to its effective formulation with biotin, methionine and zinc. A biotin deficiency can have a negative effect on hoof and horn growth as well as their elasticity and resistance. It can also impair coat quality: flaky skin and skin irritations can be the result.

In a healthy horse, biotin is synthesised in the intestinal flora by microorganisms. A deficiency occurs when the intestinal flora is not able to synthesise it any more. This can happen, for example, when taking deworming treatment that can disrupt the intestinal flora and hinder the synthesis process.

Methionine is a sulphur-containing amino acid that is vital for the formation of connective tissue. The body can produce cysteine from the ingested methionine, which serves as a building block for keratin. Keratin in turn strengthens the horn.

Zinc plays a crucial role in the regeneration and formation of new skin, hair and horn cells.

NOTE: Stiefel Biotin should be given over a longer period of time, and for at least 9 months, as biotin is discernible only when new horn cells grow. On average, the hoof grows 1 cm per month.

Feeding recommendation:
Horses (600 kg bw): 10 g/day
Small horses: 5 g/day
(1 heaped measuring scoop = approx. 10 g)

Due to its higher content of feed additives as compared to complete feed, the maximum amount of this supplement should not exceed 50 g per day.

NOTE: Stiefel Biotin should be given for at least 9 months. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use up quickly after opening. Keep out of the reach of small children.
