It contains silica which consists of natural silicic acid - is a combination of silicon (a trace element) and water. Silicon is essential for tissue-building and is also required for skin metabolism and cell growth.

Stiefel Diatomaceous Earth is fortified with zinc and vitamin B complex and can compensate for these nutrient deficiencies.

Zinc is an essential trace element that is vital for the metabolism. It is a component of many enzymes and fulfils a variety of functions. For example, zinc plays an important role in sugar, fat and protein metabolism and is also involved in cell growth. The immune system and many hormones require zinc to function. It also plays an important role in wound healing. But zinc cannot be stored by the bod and needs to be regularly supplemented through the diet. The body needs a higher amount of zinc at certain times such as during growth and coat changes.

Feeding recommendation:
Horses (600 kg bw): 30 - 50 g/day
Small horses: 15 - 25 g/day
